Actions: Kevin and Mike Bennett will be ready to present intersection designs Jan 10. City engineering staff will contact Daniels/Williams Engineering to coordinate McElroy-College Hill intersection. Plan for a bike escort for the truck hauling the Pre-fab bridge into town (maybe late January). Recruit a volunteer preferably from OPD or OPC for LAB Safety Instructor training in Feb. Kate and Mike will draft a regional trails plan to coordinate with University and County. City bike map may have to wait for details from MDOT on phase 2. Tourism Council funds will be solicited to prepare map and promotional brochures to be distributed at Double Decker April 28 and beyond. (Mike will talk to D. Krouse) Draft City Ped/Bike ordinance to be prepared. Can we recruit an alderman or two to help/sponsor the ordinance? Ordinance to direct specific actions from city departments. Planning and engineering of new street construction. Maintenance schedules for bike lanes. Law enforcement guidance wrt bike lanes and traffic issues. Creation of an official Ped/Bike or combined transportation commission with an annual budget for training and promotional activities and possibly even a staff position. Recruit a coordinator for Bike Month and Bike to Work promotions in May. Safe Routes to Schools Group will meet and present plans in January. Notes (not many - mostly the original agenda) 1.
